Yesterday, I stopped by my friends’ John and Mary’s house for a bit of an exchange. I have lots of jam. They have lots of maple syrup. A trade ensued.
In my mind, a good barter is one in which both people think they got the better end of the deal. “Maple syrup, oh my gosh,” I was thinking. “Homemade jam, all that work!” they were thinking.
So here are my questions to the reader:
Have you bartered food before?
Do you have any local goods to barter for jam? Or perhaps peaches? (obviously, nonlocal but I am ready to buy them)
I don’t need zucchini, so please don’t even mention the word. I also don’t think raspberries is on my list of coveted foods right now. Did I say no zucchini?
